We at Eykt are incredibly proud to have received our first Swan Certification for the multi-residential buildings at Áshamar 12–26 in Hafnarfjörður. This involves six residential buildings, totaling just over 18,000 m² and 154 apartments, which makes Áshamar the largest Swan-certified construction project in Iceland to date.
This recognition marks an important milestone in Eykt’s history and confirms our guiding principles of building with quality, health, and sustainability at the forefront.

The Swan Ecolabel is an official Nordic environmental certification that imposes strict requirements on buildings – in design, construction, and use. Among the aspects ensured in a Swan-certified building are:
- Healthy indoor air – material selection is careful and harmful substances are limited.
- Moisture protection – ensuring the building is safe and protected against damage.
- Energy efficiency – the buildings meet strict standards for energy consumption.
- Light design – it is confirmed that the apartments receive sufficient natural light, which directly affects health, well-being, and sleep.
Swan-certified housing is therefore not only an environmentally friendly choice but also a quality seal for buyers, ensuring that the apartments are designed with the long-term interests of residents and the environment in mind.
